Ben Dronkers started Sensi Seeds back in 1985 as a small family business. It didn’t stay small for long. Within a few decades it had become the largest cannabis seed bank in the world, though the original idea behind it never really moved: protect the genetics that shaped cannabis, and keep building on them.

We’ve got over 500 strains in the library now, a good number bred right here – Skunk #1, Northern Lights, Hindu Kush, Jack Herer. You’ll still find these showing up in hybrids growers reach for today. In 1998 we became the first cannabis seed company in the Netherlands to secure an official exemption to grow and preserve these genetics. That exemption is a big part of why our breeding lines made it through some genuinely rough years for the industry.

There’s more to what we do than seeds, though. Sensi Seeds Breeding Grounds hands newer breeders access to our genetics. Our sister projects – the Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum, HempFlax, Cannabis College, have put in years toward cannabis education and acceptance too.

We started as a family business, and we’re still one, still built around the idea that it all comes back to the plant. Preserving genetics, breeding well, growing a community around cannabis – that’s what Sensi Seeds has been about since day one, and still is.
